The Womens’ Olympic football competition (OFT) of the Tokyo 2020 Games will run from 21 July to 6 August 2021 across seven scenes in six Japanese urban areas.
The top stars of the ladies’ down will illuminate the phases of the opposition, including, no doubt, American World Cup holders Megan Rapinoe and Crystal Dunn, just as head-turners like Brazil’s Debinha and Marta and Dutch sensation Vivianne Miedema. Join Tokyo2020 for a think back – and ahead – at the ladies’ OFT
The groups are partitioned into three gatherings of four, with the gathering letters (E-G) following straightforwardly on from the men’s competition (A-D). The best two groups from each gathering, alongside the two best third-place finishers, will advance to the knockout stage.
Since the competition’s origin in 1996, just three groups have won gold (the USA, Germany and Norway). The USA group – that brags the preferences Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd – are pursuing a record-broadening fifth Olympic gold.
